This project was created for Crafting Digital History HIST3907o, which was offered by Carleton University and instructed by Dr. Shawn Graham in 2016. I was interested in taking this course to understand how technology has been integrated into digital history to produce new methods for researching, recording, preserving, and teaching history. In this course, I was instructed to apply some of the tools and practices taught to manipulate big data and craft my own piece of digital history. For this project, I used Twitter to explore how “open access” has been discussed and promoted online. In doing so, I sought to highlight public sentiment towards open initiatives. I welcome you to explore my work process and final project.
